Introduction

Shri Janki Mahal Trust holds a revered and special place in Shri Avadh Dham. Established in 1942–43 (Vikram Samvat 2000), it is the sacred palace of Shri Kishori Ji where festivals are celebrated with deep devotion following the traditions of Mithila, Awadhi and Marwari culture. The daily Ashtayam Bhavpurna Seva of Shri Sitaram Ji, performed according to the Mithila Gayan tradition, adds a unique spiritual beauty to the atmosphere. This distinctive seva has created a special identity for the palace across Shri Ayodhya Ji, attracting countless devotees. Shri Janki Mahal is also widely known as Mohan Kothi and Nepali Kothi..

The palace complex houses five temples, with the main shrine dedicated to Shri Sitaram Ji, also known as Shri Janki Var Vihar Kunj. Alongside it are the temples of Shri Shankar Bhagwan, Shri Hanuman Ji (popularly known as the Hanuman Chalisa Mandir), Shri Ganesh Ji and Shri Ramlala Ji. Akhand Shri Sitaram Naam Sankirtan has been going on uninterruptedly, filling the palace with divine vibrations. Shri Hanuman Chalisa Paath is also performed continuously. The Trust runs an Annakshetra in which food is distributed daily to the needy, ensuring that no one leaves the premises hungry. Also a Charitable Hospital dedicated to serving the poor and helpless, where free medical treatment and medicines are provided through allopathic services, an eye department, physiotherapy and homeopathic care.

Throughout the year, the Trust organizes various Utsavs and celebrations with utmost devotion and grandeur. Major festivities include Shri Ram Janam Mahotsav, Shri Janki Janmotsav, Saavan Jhula Utsav, Sharad Purnima and Shri Sitaram Vivaah Mahotsav. These festivals are celebrated with traditional rituals, music, devotion and cultural depth, drawing large numbers of devotees from different regions.

Gau Seva holds immense importance in the functioning of the Trust. A well-maintained and carefully managed Gaushala is operated for the protection and nurturing of mother cows. Here, cows are cared for with great affection, provided with nutritious food and given a safe and peaceful environment. The service of Gaumata remains one of the most heartfelt commitments of the Trust.
